Presentazione

After obtaining his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering (specializing in Transportation Infrastructure) at University of Parma, at the moment I'm a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the same university since 1 November 2024. During my academic career, I developed expertise in road infrastructure and road materials, including bitumen, bituminous mastics, and asphalt mixtures. My current research focuses on the use of lime-based products for infrastructure applications and on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology.

Internship – Road Engineering Laboratory

I completed an internship at the Road Engineering Laboratory of the University of Parma, where I carried out the extraction of aged bitumen from reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP).

Master's Thesis

"Regeneration of exhausted bitumen with a bio-additive for eco-sustainable pavements"

The primary objective of this research was to identify a more sustainable pavement recycling technique by evaluating the effects of adding a natural bio-based additive to aged bitumen extracted from reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). After determining the optimum dosage of the bio-based additive, the modified bitumen was characterized through rheological testing using a Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR). In particular, "frequency sweep" and "Multiple Stress Creep Recovery (MSCR)" tests were performed. Subsequently, mastic specimens (bitumen and fine aggregates) were produced using the characterized binders and subjected to two direct tensile mechanical tests: one under load control and the other under displacement control. Strain analysis was carried out using a software developed by the University of Parma based on the Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique.
