Saverio Storani is a Tenure-Track Researcher at the University of Parma, Department of Economics and Management. His academic activity focuses on quantitative methods applied to economics, finance, and complex systems.
At the University of Parma, he teaches Computational Methods for Finance and Financial Mathematics. He is also responsible for the Linear Algebra module within the compulsory training activities of the Ph.D. programme, curriculum Advanced Research in Economics and Management (AREM). He also teaches Mathematics for Economics and Finance at the International University of Rome – UNINT.
Over the years, his teaching activity has covered financial mathematics, mathematics for economics and finance, quantitative methods, computational models for economics and finance, financial risk measurement, sustainable finance, and simulation methods applied to economic systems. His teaching approach is strongly application-oriented and aims to connect mathematical, statistical, and computational tools with real economic and financial problems, using models, data, and applied examples.
He holds a Ph.D. in Quantitative Methods for Economic Policy from the University of Macerata and a Ph.D. in Sciences Économiques et Sciences de Gestion from the University of Angers, completed within an international co-tutorship programme. His doctoral thesis examined the Italian minibond market through quantitative methods. He previously earned a master’s degree in Financial Markets and Intermediaries and a bachelor’s degree in Banking, Business and Markets from the University of Macerata.
His main research interests include network analysis, quantitative finance, sustainable finance, systemic risk, financial markets, corporate financing instruments, economic and financial data analysis, and the application of computational and machine learning models to economic and financial problems. Part of his research also focuses on ESG issues, the resilience of financial and production systems, global value chains, and the spread of climate-related information and misinformation on social media.
He has published scientific contributions in international journals in the fields of economics, finance, sustainability, network science, and quantitative methods, including Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Finance Research Letters, Scientific Reports, Journal of Cleaner Production, Energy Economics, Annals of Operations Research, World Development, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, PLOS ONE, and Networks and Spatial Economics.
In both his research and teaching activities, he uses quantitative and computational tools to analyse complex economic phenomena, with the aim of helping students develop skills for understanding data, models, and decision-making processes in economics and finance.
