Sabrina Tosi Cambini is Associate Professor in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Parma. She received her Phd in “Methodologies of ethno-anthropological research” (“Metodologie della ricerca etnoantropologica”) from the University of Siena in 2004.
She has previously served as a researcher for the Giovanni Michelucci Foundation (2005-2014), and taught at the University of Verona, the University of Florence and the University for Foreigners of Siena (2005-2021).
Her research interests are in the field of urban anthropology, migration and mobility, nomadism, and on connections between anthropology and performing arts.
She is a founding member of the Italian Society of Applied Anthropology (SIAA), and member of the Scientific Committee of its journal “Antropologia pubblica” [Public Anthropology].
She developed the Cultural and Scientific Cooperation Program between the University of Florence and the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture in Ulaanbaatar, where she was Visiting Professor.
From 2022 she is the Scientific Coordinator of the Memorandum of Understanding on international cooperation for cultural and scientific purposes between the University of Parma and the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations under the auspices of UNESCO (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia), where she was Visiting Scholar.
Since January 2024 she has been Vice Director of the Inter-university Research Center “Asian, Nomadic Cultures, Mobility and Environment Study Center – Mongolian Culture Center (naMec)”.
During the last 20 years she has been collaborating with third sector organizations, through supervision, consultancy, training, mediation, planning and coordination.
