Sabrina Tosi Cambini is Senior Lecturer at the University of Parma. She received her Phd in “Methodologies of ethno-anthropological research” (“Metodologie della ricerca etnoantropologica”) from the University of Siena in 2004 and she is habilitated for Associate Professorship in Social and Cultural Anthropology from 2013.
From 2005 to 2014, she was researcher for the Giovanni Michelucci Foundation, in charge of the Observatory on the housing situation of Roma and Sinti in Tuscany, of the Observatory on informal housing, and responsible of the Intercultural studies sector of the Foundation.
Over the last 15 years he has been teaching Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Verona, at the University of Florence and at the University for Foreigners of Siena. Her research interests are in the field of urban anthropology, migration and mobility, nomadism and on connections between anthropology and performing arts. She is a founding and board member of the Italian Society of Applied Anthropology (SIAA), and member of the Scientific Committee of its journal “Antropologia pubblica”. She coordinates national and international working groups, including European projects. She is a member of the Centre for Governmentality and Disability Studies "Robert Castel" (University of Naples "Sant’Orsola Benincasa") and member of the editorial staff of the journal “Minority Reports. Cultural Disability Studies”.
She developed the Cultural and Scientific Cooperation Program between the University of Florence and the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture in Ulaanbaatar, where she was Visiting Professor.
From 2022 she is the Scientific Coordinator of the Memorandum of Understanding on international cooperation for cultural and scientific purposes between the University of Parma and the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations under the auspices of UNESCO (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia).
During the last 20 years she has been collaborating with third sector organizations, through supervision, consultancy, training, mediation, planning and coordination.
