Laura Fruggeri is professor in Social Psychology and Psychology of Family Relations at the Department of Psychology. She is Head of the Department of Psychology since 2005. She has directed the PhD program in Social Psychology and she is now the director of the PhD program in Psychology. Lecturer in courses and seminars held at international Universities, Training Institutes and Research Centers with which she is still having exchanges both for teaching and research
Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of several national and international Journals in the families studies field. She has presented at several national and international conferences.

Scientific coordinator of the following research projects funded by Regional, National and European institutions
"Normative and counter-normative behaviors in adolescence". Financed by the National Board of Education, the project has been conducted in collaboration with colleagues of the University of Utrecht (2002).
“Inequalities in the access to health services: generative mechanisms and individuation of possible solutions”. National Board of Education and Emilia-Romagna Regional Counsel Funds 2002-2003.
“The socialization of emotions in childhood: development of emotional competences and different family typologies”. Financed by the National Board of Education, 2004-2007.
“Family transitions in daily life” Financed by the National Board of Education, 2005-2006.
“Social representations of transgenderism and prejudices towards transgenders”. European Community Funds – Equal 2005-2007.
“Quality of life and bio-narratives of young women affected by acute myocardial infarction”. Financed by the Ministry of Health 2008-2010.

As expert in the analysis of communication, interactions, and systems, she has conducted several studies on:
Symbolic and communicative processes in the construction of interpersonal relationships in different contexts : families, health and social services, educational agencies (Famiglie. Carocci Ed.).
Analysis of therapeutic relationship in institutional contexts and private practice (in Gergen-McNamee (eds) Therapy as social contruction. Sage; and in Campbell-Mason (eds) Perspectives on supervision. Karnac).
Relationships and processes in non traditional families (Diverse normalità. Carocci Ed.).
Interactions and transitions in everyday family life (Family Process, 2010).
Research methodologies and procedures for the study of family transitional processes (Osservare le famiglie. Carocci Ed.).

Prof. Fruggeri coordinates a research group on family microtransitions taking place in everyday life when members negotiate new identities, relations, rules, (morphogenetic processes) or when they coordinate in undertaking the continuous changes implied in daily routines (morphostatic processes).The analysis of microtransions has been extended to families acting in institutional contexts. Relations and processes in non traditional families are also studied.
Specific methodologies and procedures able to grasp the systemic, relational, dialogical nature of family microtransitions are developed.
