Curriculum Vitae
Tomaso Fontanini obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer, Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering in Parma in 2014 and, at the same university, his Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering in 2017.
He later earned a PhD in Information Technologies in 2020 at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma. During his doctoral studies, he conducted research on deep learning, generative models, and meta-learning. His PhD supervisor was Prof. Andrea Prati.
In 2020, he was also a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Research in Intelligent Systems (CRIS) at the University of California, Riverside, under the supervision of Prof. Bir Bhanu. During this period, he worked on algorithms for generating realistic human face images.
From 2020 to 2022, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Prati. During this time, he carried out research on Unsupervised Learning and Few-shot Learning applied to generative models.
Since 2022, he has been a Fixed-term Researcher (RTD-A) at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma. His research during this period has focused on text-based image retrieval, semantic image synthesis, and style transfer.
