Graduated in Veterinary Medicine on June 25, 1987, from the University of Parma with a final grade of 110/110 cum laude.
He received his PhD in Molecular Biotechnology on May 6, 1992, from the University of the Sacred Heart of Piacenza.
Since December 16, 1998, he has been a tenured researcher (scientific discipline Bio10), with affiliation to the Department of Animal Production, Veterinary Biotechnology, Food Quality and Safety at the University of Parma and subsequently to the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, where he carries out teaching and research activities.
Since December 31, 2017, he has been an associate professor, affiliated with the same department.

Main research interests:
Use of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and other blood components for non-transfusional use. Specifically: methodologies for developing PRP and other platelet concentrate preparations in veterinary animals; study of the effects of PRP on tissue regeneration, modulation of the inflammatory response, and as a potential alternative to antibiotics.
Use of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs) in veterinary regenerative medicine. Specifically: study of the secretome for the development of cell-free therapies. Optimization of cell culture protocols and preparation of autologous therapeutic preparations (microfat).
Oxidative Stress and Biomarkers. Another interest concerns the animal body's response to stressors (environmental or nutritional), analyzing molecular and biochemical markers of inflammation and oxidative stress.

Teaching Activities: Professor of Veterinary Biochemistry, Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences (Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine and Bachelor's Degree in Animal Sciences). Professor of the Stem Cell Biology and Biotechnology course (Bachelor's Degree in Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Veterinary Biotechnology).
