Martina Giuffrè is Associate Professor of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Parma,  Department of Discipline Umanistiche, Sociali e delle Imprese Culturali. She has taught Cultural Anthropology at several Italian universities: the University of Sassari, the Oriental University of Naples, the University La Sapienza of Rome and the University of Florence, where she carried out her research on oral sources and migration issues. She obtained her PhD in Ethno-anthropological Sciences at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with a research on the women of Cape Verde, where she lived for three years. She has conducted numerous fieldwork in Cape Verde, Australia, the Aeolian Islands, Tuscany, Belgium, Spain and Romania. For years she has been dealing with migration issues (Italian emigration abroad and foreign immigration in Italy), gender identity and female migratory movements and more recently she began to deal with Roma issues. She has organized and coordinated various cultural initiatives, participated as a speaker at various national and international conferences and coordinated several European and international projects. Since 2010 she is Director of the Editorial series "Migration" by CISU. She is also a member of the Scientific Committee for the series “Working Paper Series” (European Science Foundation) Network of Transnational Lives, Mobility and Gender ICS (Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon) (February 2012), member of the editorial board of LARES  (Italian anthropological journal -A level for the National Evaluation agency ANVUR), and of the Scientific Committee of the Museum Guatelli of Ozzano Taro (Pr) as well as member of the Social Research Centre of University of Parma (CIRS -Centro Interdipartimentale di Ricerca Sociale).  She has organised a number of cultural events (conferences, field research, partnerships, etc.) as well as participated and convened national and international conferences. She is member of professional organisations European Association of Social Anthropologist (EASA), Italian Society for Applied Anthropology (SIAA), Italian Society for Cultural Anthropologist (SIAC) as well as founder and member of the Advisory Board of Italian Professional Anthropology Association (ANPIA). She is the author of two books, editor of five volumes and has published numerous articles in journals and edited volumes (in Italian, English, Spanish and Portuguese). Volumes related to the CRP are related to migration, experimental fieldwork methodologies, gender issue and reconfigured ideas of home. Key research interests and specialism: ethnographic methodologies, peer research, oral sources, gender and migration, transnational home and families, Roma communities, new forms of parenting in contemporary society. She has extensive fieldwork experience in Cape Verde, Romania, Spain, Australia, Aeolian Islands, Italy and Belgium.
