Several training periods (from 1994 to 2000) of scientific research activities at the "Biochimie de la Différenciation" laboratory of the Jacques Monod-Université Paris VII-Paris (France).
She carries out basic and applied scientific research in the virological and microbiological fields. The basic research activity is focused on the study of the interaction of different influenza A virus strains with mammalian cell models with different degrees of permissiveness, in order to highlight the role of specific cellular factors, with particular regard to the cytoskeleton, in resistance to viral infection.
She collaborates with other research groups in the development of topics such as the study of epigenetic mechanisms for the regulation of gene expression of human cytomegalovirus, the evaluation of innovative methods for the laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases and the epidemiology of infections caused by microorganisms and from viruses.

ASSISTANCE ACTIVITY
Prof. De Conto, since 2002, carries out assistance activities in the subsectors "Isolation and identification of viral agents and their components", "Virology serology" and "Molecular virology and advanced diagnostics" of the Virology Unit of the Diagnostic Department of the University Hospital of Parma.
The assistance activity concerns the validation of results and the reporting of virological investigations aimed at the identification of cytopathogenic viral agents, the search for serological markers of viral infection, the qualitative/quantitative research of viral nucleic acids, the genotyping of viruses and the determination of mutations responsible for drug resistance.
Since November 29, 2017, Prof. De Conto is charged of the Simple Structure "Molecular virological diagnosis and epidemiology" of the Virology Unit of the Diagnostic Department of the University Hospital of Parma.
Prof. De Conto, since 2008, holds the position of Quality Coordinator of the Virology Unit, mainly aimed at the institutional accreditation of the Diagnostic Department of the University Hospital of Parma.
