Personale docente

Alessandra Mori was born in Parma on February the 1st, 1958. She attained her Science Master Degree in Natural Sciences on 1981 at the University of Parma (Italy), and the PhD on Animal Biology (Ethology) on 1987. On 1988, she became University Researcher in Zoology (Discipline Group n. 74) at the University of Parma and since November 1998 she is Associate Professor in Zoology at the same University. At the moment, she has the responsibility of didactics for Invertebrates Zoology (Degree in Biology) and she teaches Invertebrates Zoology (Degree in Ecological Biology) and Animal Behaviour (Science Master Degree in Nature Conservation).
From March 1999 to October 2004, she was Secretary of the Council of the Science Master Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Parma. From 2004 to 2007, she was a member of the Scientific Committee Area 105 for the evaluation of FIL projects (Founds for the Local Incentives). From 1998 to 2000, she was member of the Teacher Board of the PhD in “Animal Biology (Ethology)” at the University of Florence (Administrative Office). Since 2000, she is member of the Teacher Board of the PhD in “Behavioural Biology” at the University of Parma. From 1996 to 2000, she was Secretary of the Scientific Society AISASP (Italian Section of the Union for the Study of Social Insects – IUSSI). At the moment she is member of the following scientific societies: UZI (Italian Zoological Union), SIE (Italian Society of Ethology) and AISASP.
The subjects of her researches regard several aspects of Ethology. In particular, the main topics investigated so far concern aggressive behaviour, parental cares, reproductive biology, predation, competition, raiding behaviour, recognition and communication systems of several (free-living and parasite) species of Formicidae, slavery of ants and the effects of imprinting on this phenomenon. Recently, she is working on topics related to the evaluation of environmental quality. She is the Author of more than 160 scientific publications on national and international journals, and author of articles, books, criticisms, translation and review of foreign scientific works.
