Maria Cristina Ossiprandi: date of birth: August 22 1962

• October 1989: graduation in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Parma. (score110/110 -.min 66 max 110)
• Nov 1989: Begins work as a practicing Veterinarian
• April 1995: wins a place as Researcher at the Microbiology Institute of Veterinary Medicine of Parma University.
• December 2005: nominated Associate Professor in the Animal Health Department of the Microbiology and Immunology Sector of the Veterinary Medicine Faculty, Parma University.
• October 2005: appointed “Faculty Delegate for Career Guidance” in the Specialist degree course in Veterinary Medicine.
• November 2006: appointed member of the Commission for Tutorials and member of the Joint Teaching Committee as representative Associate Professor
• Appointed on the Commission for Degree Course Admissions; the Commission for the Examination of Italian for Foreign Students; and member of the Student Careers Committee.
• Appointed Professor of the Microbiology and Immunology modules for the Microbiology and Epidemiology Course in Veterinary Medicine.

She has published a total of 111 papers concerning the epidemiologic studies of potentially zoonotic bacteria in swine (Helicobacter spp. and Bacillus cereus, Salmonella, Yersinia), bovine (Staphylococcus aureus) and equine (Clostridium difficile) populations, as well as in pets (dogs and cats) which were monitored for the presence of Enterococcus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas and Proteus, Clostridium difficile and perfringens. She has a chapter on a on line book: Current Protocols in Toxicology 21:21.3.1–21.3.11 whose title is the following Assessment of Enteral Bacteria UNIT 21.3; in 2015 she published an essay on "Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Enterococcal Species Isolated from Italian Dogs" within the volume Antimicrobial Resistance - An Open Challenge, ISBN 978-953-51-2222-7 of which she is Editor.
Currently, she is conducting research on the molecular study of the isolates of Clostridium difficile and perfringens in major livestock species in order to define their toxic profile. She is working, also, in synthetic biomaterial in order to value the promoting of new bone formation when implanted in a bone defect site and she is carrying out specific studies to assess the antibacterial effectiveness of biomaterials employed in orthopedics. Actually she is working on assessment of the level of sanitary slaughterhouses in the regional and extra-regional with particular attention to the identification of Salmonella toxigenic strains. She is currently performing studies concerning the biodiversity related to the intestinal microbiota in different animal species and possible interactions on the human microbiota (bifidobacteria population).
