While studying at university, she worked as tour leader from 1980 to 1990 for various tour operators, travelling around the world and learning to deal with a wide range of people.
Since 1989 she has been working as tutor of students of the medical school and of the legal medicine post-graduate course. Her work focuses on training in research and in professional education. She is used to working in interdisciplinary fields, and has experience in bringing together, for research purposes, doctors with a wide range of specialist skills, nurses, psychologists, biologists, chemicals, sociologists, anthropologists, philosophers and jurists. She collaborates with the Institute of Legal Medicine of Padua in a research project in omic sciences. She has recently embarked on a research project in nanotechnology with the Faculty of Engineering of Rome. Many of her publications are joint collaborations with colleagues from other Italian universities and from German (Münster, Essen, Hamburg) and Portuguese universities (Coimbra).

Since 1999, she has been organizing six-monthly seminars and triennial congresses for the Italian Group of Forensic Pathology of the Italian Society of Legal Medicine, which appeal greatly to young legal doctors. She has introduced seminars on the doctor-patient relationship, and the relationship between terminally-ill patients and the doctor, respectively, in the third and fifth years of the degree in Medicine.

During a 15-month training period at the Institut für Rechtsmedizin of the University of Muenster (Dir. Prof. Bernd Brinkmann), she learned the following techniques: immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, PCR and nested PCR

During a 15-month training period at the Institut für Rechtsmedizin of the University of Muenster (Dir. Prof. Bernd Brinkmann), she collaborated actively with the European Council of Legal Medicine in drawing up a protocol for the harmonization of autopsies. She collaborated with Prof. Nuno Duarte Vieira in an advanced course on road traumatology from March to May 2003 in Coimbra (Portugal).
During a 1 month at the University of Wakayama (Japan), she started a collaboration in the field of forensic histopathology with Prof. Toshikazu Kondo and his team.
