Author of 245 scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals and of more than 350 communications at national and international Symposia; inventor of 2 patents.
Invited author of 3 book chapters, 4 chapters of encyclopedias, 2 editorials, 2 articles related to “Books in Review” published in Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry.
H-index = 49 (Scopus); citations: more than 8800 (Scopus).
She played a key role in the scientific development of the analytical chemistry research group of the University of Parma concerning the following topics:
- the development and validation of analytical and bioanalytical methods based on chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques in environmental and food analysis.
- the development of novel materials for miniaturized extraction techniques and for DESI- and MALDI-mass spectrometry
- the application of experimental design techniques to analytical procedure optimization and of multivariate statistical analysis to food quality and authenticity
- the development of analytical methods based on the use of SEM/ESEM techniques for the characterization of novel materials and for the detection of nanoparticles for food safety and environmental monitoring
- the development of innovative electrochemical biosensing devices for the determination of biomarkers in medical diagnostics as well as of compounds of environmental and food interest.

In 2018 she received the "Arnaldo Liberti Award" medal for innovative and influential work in the area of separation science from the Analytical Chemistry Division together with the Environmental and Cultural Heritage Chemistry Division and the Interdivisional Separation Science Group of the Italian Chemical Society.

In 2023 she received the "Alessandro Mangia Award" medal from the Bioanalytical Divisional Group of the Analytical Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society for the excellent research results achieved in bioanalytical chemistry in terms of innovation and scientific relevance.

In 2023 she received the "Giovanni Canneri Award" medal from the Analytical Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society, which is awarded to a scientist who has distinguished himself/herself for research in Analytical Chemistry.
