Director of the Center of Oncologic Dermatology – Skin Cancer Unit, IRCCS IRST Scientific Institute for Cancer Research of Romagna (since 2008) and university hub of the University of Parma (since 2016). He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1985 (summa cum laude) and specialized in Dermatology (1989) and Allergology (1992). His clinical and research activities focus on oncologic dermatology, particularly on early melanoma diagnosis and the development of non-invasive diagnostic technologies. Since the early 1990s he has contributed to the development and validation of dermoscopy and digital epiluminescence microscopy, including studies on diagnostic accuracy, clinicopathological correlations, effects of solar radiation on melanocytic nevi, and telemedicine applications. He also participated in European research projects on computerized melanoma diagnosis. He has been actively involved in medical education and was among the pioneers of dermoscopy training in Italy. In the field of digital education he developed multimedia tools and educational platforms for dermatology. During the COVID-19 pandemic he developed the MelaMEd (Melanoma Multimedia Education) platform of the Italian Melanoma Intergroup (IMI), an international digital educational resource integrating e-learning courses and updated clinical materials. He is scientific coordinator of several public health initiatives on skin cancer prevention, including the national educational project “Il Sole per Amico”, developed with the Italian Ministry of Education and Merit, and the SUNTel programme integrating digital learning and peer education in schools. He has served as invited speaker at numerous national and international conferences and is member of several scientific societies. Le scottature solari, l'esposizione UV cumulativa elevata e l'uso di radiazione ultraviolette artificiali in particolare nei soggetti a fototipo chiaro rappresnetano un fattori di rischio per l'insorgenza del melanoma e dei carcinomi cutanei. Una adeguata sensibilizzazione della popolazione ed in particolare durante l'età pediatrica è fondamentale per prevenire l'insorgenza di questi tumori.
