Pharmacokinetics: Overview. Transport of drugs across membranes. Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs. Bioavailability. Volume of distribution. Plasma concentration curves. Drug half-life. Pharmacokinetic models. First- order and saturation kinetics.
Pharmacodynamics: Receptors. Drug-receptor interactions. Concentration- response curves. Agonists, antagonists and inverse agonists. Concept of LD50, ED50, drug safety and therapeutic index.
Drugs affecting different systems and organs.

Research fields:

1. Clinical efficacy of rifaximin and new therapeutic approaches in chronic enteropathies of small animals
2. Effects of drugs (NSAIDs, opioid analgesics, alpha-2 agonists, muscarinic antagonists) on bronchial and intestinal motility “in vitro” in horses
3. Detection of contaminants (lead and copper derived from hunting ammunitions) in game meat
4. HPLC analysis of antibiotic and antiparasitic drugs in plasma and tissues
