EDUCATION AND POSITION

- 1983 maturità scientifica (High School Degree) from Liceo Scientifico Statale "G. Ulivi" di Parma.

- 1989: Master of Science in Geology University of Parma with the
M.Sc. Thesis: "Geological and structural survey of High Lessini mountains between the Adige Valley and the Squaranto River" (Southern alps, Northern Italy).

- 1993: Ph.D. in Geology University of Ferrara, Firenze, Parma, Pavia e Total S.A.
Ph.D. Thesis Title: "Sedimentary and flexural model of a sector of the Adriatic margin in the Central Apennines (Central Italy) ".

- 1993-1994: PostDoc Research Fellow at ETH Zentrum Geologisches Institut (Zurich Switzerland) funded by Exchange Grant ETH Zurich - Ministero Affari Esteri carryong out researches on integration of structural and stratigraphic data in the study of growth folds in central Apennines (Italy)

- 1994-1996: Research Assistant at the l’ETH Zentrum-Geologisches Institut (Zurich, Switzerland) funded by BBW (Bundesamt für Bildung und Wissenshaft) Svizzera (BBW Project Nr. 94.0153) carrying out research in the frame of JOULE - “Integrated Basin Studies (Phase II)” and dealing with growth folds in the Barreme basin (Subalpine Chain of SE France) and Ebro Basin (Pyrenees, Spain)

- since 1999: Researcher at the Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra of Università degli Studi di Parma, where I teach course on field mapping for graduating students.

Research areas

Tectonics and sedimentation in foreland basins system and related orogenic wedge-fold and thrust system: - study the relationships between deformations and stratigraphic record and sedimentation within sedimentary basins associated to collional orogen: wedge-top, foredeep and foreland basins; - evolution of thrust systems at the leading edge of orogenic wedges; - analysis of hydrocarbon-bearing fluids and paleofluids circualtions in the frontal area of the orogenic wedges. Palogene and Neogene evolution of perimediterranean orogens and geological hazards: - evolution of collisional orogen in the mediterranea area (Apennines, Calabrian Arc and Calabrian Accretionary Prism in the Ionian Sea) during the last 65 Myrs; - mapping and reconstruction of the main deformations structures and their relationships to 1) plate boundary evolution and 2) geological hazards (seismic hazards, Mass Transport Processes both subarial and submarine). Public Engagement Initiatives

  • Tre escursioni didattiche tra Appennino e Po per studentesse e studenti - Iniziativa di Ateneo e CAI Sezione di Parma. Lezioni “sul campo” con docenti Unipr e accompagnatori CAI

    Dopo Climbing For Climate, dalla collaborazione fra Università di Parma e Club Alpino Italiano - Sezione di Parma nasce un’altra iniziativa nel segno dell’ambiente, della montagna e della sostenibilità: un ciclo di tre escursioni tematiche nella zona dell’Appennino Parmense e del corso del fiume Po, vere e proprie uscite didattiche rivolte a studentesse e studenti dell’Ateneo.

  • La struttura di Salsomaggiore in 3D - terminazione SE

    Questo modello 3D è stato realizzato a seguito della collaborazione tra SGSS e Università di Parma nell’ambito di una tesi (Campana 2019) del corso di laurea triennale in Scienze Geologiche del Dipartimento di Scienze Chimiche, della Vita e della Sostenibilità Ambientale dell’Università di Parma e di un tirocinio presso la sede del Servizio Geologico Sismico e dei Suoli. Tra novembre e dicembre 2018 il dott. Davide Campana ha effettuato un tirocinio presso la sede del Servizio Geologico Sismico e dei Suoli, occupandosi della modellazione geologica 3D e successivamente applicando l’esperienza maturata per produrre un modello geologico 3D di un settore dell’Appennino Parmense. Il modello prodotto rappresenta in maniera tridimensionale il settore SE della ben nota struttura di Salsomaggiore affiorante in finestra tettonica al margine dell'Appennino Parmense nei pressi dell'omonima località.
