Andrea Zerbi is born in Parma on march 24, 1967. He is degree in Architecture at the Polytechnic of Milan in 1993. In 2000 he obtained the PhD in "Design and Survey of the Built Heritage" at the University of Ancona. From 2001 to 2005 he is Assistant for the collaboration in research activities in the subject area ICAR/17 – “Design” at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma. From 2002-2003 to 2005-2006 he is professor of the courses of Drawing within various Laboratories of drawing in the Design Faculty of the Polytechnic of Milan. From 2003-2004 to 2005-2006 he is professor of the course of Design of the Architecture in the Architecture Degree at the University of Parma. Since 2006 he is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Parma, where he teaches courses of Design, Descriptive Geometry and Architecture Design in the Science of Architecture Degree and Architecture Degree. First as a graduate visitor, then as a PhD student, he participated in the research activities both individually and in collaboration with teachers holders of courses of Drawing and Design Building of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma. The activities of scientific research has developed mainly in the fields of Design and architectural Survey. The focus is particularly based on research topics related to methods of representation. In this sense the in-depth studies have focused on Design, applications of Descriptive Geometry, automatic techniques of representation and graphical and digital modeling. Particular importance was given to the research related to the use of computer resources for graphic restitution both the project of architecture as well as the survey of historical monumental building. At the same time he also dealt with the creation of database for the computerized management of data in the field of construction. Since 1995 he participates in the national researches in the field of representation. From the beginning of the same year he has begun an almost continuous activity in surveying historical architecture, both on the national territory and abroad. The carried out experiences have enabled to test the integration between the different methods of survey and to assume proficiency within the areas of topographic survey, photogrammetry and laser-scanner 3D. In order to submit the results of the experiences conducted, he has published articles in national magazines and books, as well as in acts of national and international conferences on the subjects of Descriptive Geometry, Survey, project design, but especially Survey and Design of the historical architecture. First as a PhD student, then as a Assistant Professor, he is a member of the research group coordinated by Prof. Paolo Giandebiaggi at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma, which operates on the themes of computer and multimedia applications, as well as on the themes of the Design and the Survey of the architecture and the city. GROUPS MURST 60% - FIL: _1997-1998: THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN FROM THE ENLIGHTENMENT TO PRESENT DAY Responsible Research: Prof. Alberto Mambriani The survey was designed to verify the actualization of expressive forms graphics of the past, through an in-depth investigation on the historical iconography and through the use of modern computer techniques. _2001-2002: TOOLS FOR THE SURVEY AND THE REPRESENTATION OF HISTORICAL BUILDING HERITAGE Responsible Research: Prof. Paolo Giandebiaggi The research aims to explore the use of some computerized tools made for the representation of contemporary architecture and heritage of historical building, through the realization of drawings of architectures identified in the urban and suburban area of Parma. _2003-2004-2005-2006: COMPUTERIZED TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES FOR THE REPRESENTATION AND MANAGEMENT OF THE DOCUMENTATION AND THE DATA RESULTING FROM THE SURVEY OF HISTORICAL BUILDINGS Responsible Research: Prof. Paolo Giandebiaggi The research plans to test the creation and implementation of a specific information system for the cataloguing of dimensional data and, together, the photographic, historical and iconographic documentation on the historical architectural heritage under investigation. _2007: COMPUTERIZED TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES FOR DOCUMENTATION, ANALYSIS AND REPRESENTATION OF THE HISTORICIZED CITY Responsible Research: Prof. Paolo Giandebiaggi The research involves the analysis and development of computerized tools and techniques for an in-depth knowledge of the historicized city placed just outside the historical center. The research is conducted through the collection and the cataloguing of the iconographic and legislation documentation, and through their analysis. The results are subsequently expressed through specific graphic representations and collected in suitable informatics system for cataloguing. IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PROGRAMS FOR THE PROMOTION OF THE INTERNATIONALIZATION PROCESS OF THE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM: _2004-2005-2006: THE SURVEY OF DURRES AMPHITHEATER: KNOWLEDGE OF A MONUMENT FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF THE WORLD CULTURAL HERITAGE Responsible Research: Prof. Paolo Giandebiaggi The research is part of the scientific and technical cooperation covered by the agreements of the "Durres Project" and is extended to the Durres amphitheater. The goal is to realize the archaeological study, the survey and the architectural study, the restoration, reutilization and development projects. _2007: ANALYSIS AND DIAGNOSIS OF DAMAGED STRUCTURES OF DAMASCUS CITADEL Head of Research: Professor Carlo Blasi The Ministry of Culture of Syria has issued a restricted invitation to tender for the position of "Analysis and diagnosis of damaged structures of the Citadel of Damascus”. The call is part of a broader agreement of collaboration between the Italian Republic and the Syrian Arab Republic to the valorization of the City of Damascus. The notice provides for the participation on restricted call for consolidation experts and teachers recruited in Italian university departments of research. Object of the competition is the analysis of the static situation and the consolidation project of a part of the Citadel of Damascus, which consists of three towers in precarious structural conditions. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma, won the above procedure. _2008: ACTION PLAN FOR CONSOLIDATION AND RESTORATION IN THE DAMASCUS CITADEL Head of Research: Professor Carlo Blasi The Convention between the Ministry of Culture of Syria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Government and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma, continued the collaboration that began with the 2007 Convention. In this case the attention is focused on the project of restoration and consolidation of different parts of the citadel, by extending the scope of action compared to what has been done previously. He actively participated in the following conventions and research collaborations: _2003: SURVEYS, IN SITU TESTING, STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND COOPERATION IN DRAFTING THE CONSOLIDATION PLAN OF THE COVERAGE STRUCTURES OF THE ABBEY CHURCH OF MONTE OLIVETO MAGGIORE Agreement between the Superintendence for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage for the provinces of Siena and Grosseto and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma. Head of Research: Professor Carlo Blasi. _2006: ARCHITECTURAL SURVEY AND STATIC AND DEGRADATION EVALUATION OF THE CATHEDRAL OF MODENA BELL TOWER, THE GHIRLANDINA Agreement between the Municipality of Modena and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma.
