Francesca Buttini is currently holding an Associate Professor position at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Parma (IT) where she got the PhD title in 2004 and where now she is leading the unit dedicated to design of pharmaceutical products for inhalation. In 2014, she was appointed as Visiting Lecturer at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science of King’s College London (UK). In 2016 she has been affiliated as Key Researcher at the Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering (Austria). She was awarded as best emerging scientist by aerosol UK society in 2017.
In her career Prof. Buttini put her effort to build a strong expertise in respiratory field and inhalation product keeping the patient needs always in consideration in her research. She works on the development and characterization of innovative pulmonary products such as solutions for nebulisation, metered dose inhalers and dry powder inhalers.
Francesca is a founder of PlumeStars, an innovative SME dedicated to the development of orphan drugs for the treatment of lung diseases through inhalation therapy and is a member of the scientific advisory board of Alveolus Bio, which is developing probiotic products for inhalation.
