Fabrizio Solieri is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Enterprises, University of Parma, within the PRIN project “CHILD – Children History Italian Life Documentation. Children and everyday life in the Italian postwar (1918–1922)”, with a research project entitled “Everyday life and childhood in the immediate postwar period in Parma (1918–1922): school, education, self-representation.”
From October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2024, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the same department within the project “ProsopON – Online Prosopographical Inventory – The Professors of the University of Parma, 1768–1888.”
He teaches “Applied Didactics of Geography and History” at the University of Parma, within the initial teacher training program for lower and upper secondary school teachers, pursuant to D.P.C.M. August 4, 2023.
From January 2022 to December 2023, he served as Scientific Secretary of the project “Hemera 1918–1922. The daily memory of conflict in the Italian postwar period” (https://www.hemera.unipr.it/), funded by the National Anniversaries and Major National and International Sports Events Unit of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
He is currently Scientific Secretary of the seminar series “Libri di Storia”, coordinated by Prof. Genovesi at the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Enterprises, active since February 2018.
He has held research appointments within the regional project on the origins of Fascism in Emilia-Romagna (1919–1922), coordinated by the Istituto Storico della Resistenza e dell’Età contemporanea in Ravenna.
He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Storia e problemi contemporanei, of the Scientific Committee of Istoreco (Istituto Storico per la Resistenza e l’Età Contemporanea di Reggio Emilia), and of the Committee of the Istituto per la Storia del Risorgimento Italiano in Parma.
On June 17, 2016, he was awarded a PhD in History at the University of Parma with a dissertation entitled “The Failure of a Duchy. Elites, Society and Military Volunteering in Reggio Emilia (1848–1859).”
His main research interests concern the rise and development of Fascism in Emilia-Romagna, everyday life and childhood in the immediate postwar period, and educational institutions in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
In 2025, he published the monograph Managing Progress, Defending the Throne. The Educational Experience of a Legitimist Boarding School on the Eve of Italian Unification (1854–1859).
