-2013, FEMS Jensen Award 2013, the award is intended to recognise academic achievement and superior research accomplishments.

-2009, Short Term Fellowship founded by CIB for a training period of six months at University of California, Davis, USA.

-2008, Student Travel Grant Award from ASM for the participation at ASM 108th General Meeting, Boston, June 1-5, 2008.

Received Grants and Fellowship

From 2010 Dr. Turroni has been co-investigator or principal investigator in several research projects based on public (National Ministry of Research, Research Council of Ireland, Federation of European Microbiological Societies).

Achievements in technology transfer:

2011-Membership as Scientific Partner of the Academic Spin Off "GenProbio srl.". The mission of GenProbio is the developing of new probiotic bacteria for food- and pharmaceutical- industries (www.genprobio.com).

Research activities:

The research expertise of the applicant covers a number of different topics, all related to bifidobacteria and LAB species:

-Genomics of probiotic bacteria (probiogenomics);

-Functional genomics of intestinal commensal bacteria;

-Host-microbe interactions in the human gut;

-Functional genomics of stress responce in bacteria;

-Investigation of the biology of bacteriophage of LAB.
