Prof. dr. Bernhard M.J. van der Meulen (Bernd) (www.berndvandermeulen.eu) is director of and private food legal consultant at the European Institute food law (www.food-law.nl) and lead instructor at the Food Law Academy (www.food-law-academy.com). He is part-time professor of EU Food Law at the University of Copenhagen en visiting professor at the University of Parma.
Prof. Van der Meulen published extensively on food law. He is lead author and co-editor of the EU Food Law Handbook (https://brill.com/edcollbook/title/69030).
Curriculum Vitae
Bernd van der Meulen holds a masters and a PhD in law from the Free University in Amsterdam (NL). He is based in the Amsterdam area in the Netherlands.
He followed a two-track career path.
One track in legal practice as attorney, litigation officer at the Dutch competition authority and (currently) food legal consultant.
The other track is academic. He has been teaching administrative and constitutional law. As of 2001 he fully focused on food law. Currently most of his teaching activities are focused on Italy (University Parma, University of Easter Piedmont, LUISS Carli university Rome) but he also teaches a full summer course at the University in Copenhagen (Danmark). In addition he operates an online programme at www.food-law-academy.com.
