Giovanni ROMAGNOLI was born in 1982 in Scandiano (RE), Italy, the town where he still lives with his family. He is a father-of-three. He received his Master Degree (with honours) in Mechanical Engineering for the Food Industry at the University of Parma, Italy. In 2013, he completed his PhD course in Operations and Project Management at the Department of Industrial Engineering of Parma, defending the thesis entitled “Hybrid production planning and control systems: towards an application of lean manufacturing to the Make-To-Order sector”. Since 2013, Giovanni Romagnoli is employed as Research Fellow at the same Department. From December 2018 to April 2022, he was local scientific manager of the DigiLab4U project (http://digilab4u.com/). Since February 2024, he became Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering for Industrial Systems and Technologies of the University of Parma.

 

His research interests include RFID and supply chain management, production planning & control systems, improvements and applications of lean manufacturing, designing and managing food plants and processes; and led to the realization of more than 75 works published on International Journals or presented at International Conferences. He is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Industrial Engineering Computations, and participates in the scientific committees of several international conferences. He has organised, together with Italian and European colleagues, several Special Sessions of international conferences and two special issues of international journals.

 

He has worked as a Vocational Trainer, from 2008 to the present, for several training organisations, and as a substitute teacher in high school (2008 - 2010). He has participated in and/or managed more than 50 research or technology transfer projects with Italian and European companies.
