2017 –2026 Prof. Meletti holds the position of Director of the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit of the University Hospital of Modena (since 07/23/2017). The activities of the Neurophysiology Unit are spread over 3 hospital wards: Civil Hospital of Baggiovara, Polyclinic of Modena, Hospital of Pavullo nel Frignano. The Neurophysiology Unit has 4 "Epilepsy Monitoring Unit" beds dedicated to inpatients monitoring of complex epilepsies. Activities include neurophysiological diagnostics for outpatients and inpatients. Among the various activities, intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring activities and EEG monitoring activities in the intensive care unit have particular relevance.
In addition, the activities of the Epilepsy Center and the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit are carried out by staff with specific expertise in epileptology and neurophysiology.

2019- Coordinates the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program and Diagnostic Therapeutic Care Pathway for Epilepsy Surgery for the University Hospital of Modena. With DGR 1172/2018, the Emilia-Romagna Region formalized the establishment of an Hub Center for Epilepsy Surgery, which provides for the establishment of a care pathway for the selection of patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy to undergo resective surgery. The two referral sites of the HUB Center are the IRCCS-ISNB of the Ausl of Bologna and the Ospedale Civile Baggiovara of the AOU of Modena, to which the spoke epilepsy centers send, according to a territorial criterion of afference, patients potentially eligible for surgical therapy.

2017- Coordinates the working group: Diagnostic Therapeutic Care Pathway for the diagnosis and treatment of Adult Status Epilepticus for the University Hospitals of Modena.

2018 – 2024 Prof. Meletti held the position of Pro-tempore Director of the Neurology Unit of the University Hospital of Modena located at the Baggiovara Civil Hospital (since 01/11/2018). The facility consists of 28 ordinary inpatient beds and 6 "Stroke Unit" sub-intensive care beds. It coordinates the activities of 21 Neurologists and Neurophysiologists.

2022-2024 Coordination of Time-Dependent Pathology Networks for AOU Modena-AUSL Modena. The program aims to implement the respective PDTAs (stroke, status epilepticus, trauma, myocardial infarction) at the Modena province level and the implementation of a monitoring plans of outcome and performance indicators.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Prof. Meletti has devoted his research activities mainly to the field of central nervous system diseases, from functional semeiotics to neurophysiological and neuroimaging diagnostics. Specific fields of expertise are neurophysiology and epileptology. In particular, he has devoted himself to the study of pathophysiological mechanisms of different forms of epilepsies, both acquired and genetic, with specific reference to drug-resistant epilepsies, using both neurophysiological (EEG) and advanced imaging (structural and functional) methods. Research results have been published in leading journals in general neurology (Brain, Annals of Neurology, Neurology) and epilepsy (Epilepsia). A topic of clinical and research interest in recent years has involved time-dependent conditions and status epilepticus. A prospective registry for cases of status epilepticus has been established since 2013 in Modena, resulting in numerous scientific publications, and international collaborations. For the identification of molecular biomarkers of neuronal damage, inflammation, and neurodegeneration.

PARTICIPATIONS AND/OR LEADERSHIP OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH GROUPS AND SCIENTIFIC COLLABORATIONS
2024- Responsibility and coordination of a national research network on post-stroke Epilepsy involving the following centers: Udine, Ancona, Acquila, Ravenna, Trieste. The aims of this network is to establish risk factors for post-stroke seizures, develop new predictive scores, and evaluate possible treatments to prevent post-stroke epilepsy. Publication: Meletti et al., Epilepsia 2024.

2022- Collaborator of EBRAINS-AISBL, the unique European research infrastructure for brain research included by the EU in the ESFRI roadmap with structural funding until 2040. The Department of Biomedical, Metabolic and Neuroscience Sciences joined the EBRAINS initiative. Prof. Meletti participates on a specific subproject led by UNIMORE on recordings with 'High-Density-Multi Electrode Arrays' of human tissue from surgical specimens and cellular imaging.

2021- Collaborator in the international research consortium: 'Identifying SUDEP risk: Sleep wakefulness modulation of central autonomic and respiratory networks'. Prof. Meletti represents the Italian PI of the network involving the following entities: (1) University College London, ('UCL'); University of Melbourne, ('UoM'); University of Geneva, ('UoG'); Université De Lorraine, ('UdL'); McGill University, ('McGill'). International PI of the consortium Prof Beathe Diel UCL.

2017- Collaborator and co-founder of the international research consortium: 'Enhancing NeuroImaging and Genetics through MetaAnalysis (ENIGMA)-Epilepsy Working Group'. This is an international consortium involving more than 20 centers involved in advanced imaging and epilepsy genetics research. International coordinators are S. Sisodiya, P. Thompson. Prof. Meletti is local PI at UNIMORE and coordinates subprojects dedicated to advanced imaging in genetic epilepsies.

2021- Coordination of SINC - LICE inter-society study group for translation of international guidelines and terminology of descriptor terms of electroencephalographic recordings. 2012- Participation in the international consortium 'Epilepsy, Brain and Mind' dedicated to the study of neuropsychiatric aspects of epilepsies. Activities of the network have led to the organization of international congresses dedicated to these topics and publications Epilepsy Behav 2015; Epilepsy Behav 2013.

2009- 2015 Scientific collaboration with the Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy, UCL Institute of Neurology and National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London, UK (Prof. Louis Lemieux). This collaboration is inherent in the development of EEG and functional MRI co-registration method in epilepsy.
