Research areas

Prof. Barbara Altieri's research focuses on endocrine tumors, with a particular emphasis on adrenal neoplasms, especially adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). Her work aims to improve the understanding of tumor biology, identify diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, and develop novel therapeutic strategies. She is also actively involved in clinical and translational research on Cushing syndrome.

In addition, her research encompasses neuroendocrine tumors, including pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas, as well as hereditary endocrine tumor syndromes such as Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia types 1 and 2 (MEN1 and MEN2) and von Hippel–Lindau (VHL) disease.
