Emanuela Falcone is a PhD student in Translational Medical and Surgical Sciences at the Department of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Parma, where she carries out her research activity in the Experimental Oncology Laboratory. Her research focuses on the study of chemoresistance in cellular models of malignant pleural mesothelioma, with particular interest in the molecular characterization of epithelial-type models resistant to cisplatin and pemetrexed. The project aims to identify new therapeutic targets and develop second-line treatment strategies to overcome chemoresistance and contribute to improving patient survival.

Emanuela Falcone is a PhD candidate in Translational Medical and Surgical Sciences at the Department of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Parma, where she carries out her research activity in the Experimental Oncology Laboratory. Her PhD project, started in 2025 and co-funded by Virostatics, focuses on the study of chemoresistance mechanisms in malignant pleural mesothelioma and on the identification of novel second-line therapeutic strategies to overcome treatment resistance.

In 2024, she obtained a Master's Degree in Translational Biomedical Sciences from the University of Parma, graduating with honours (110/110 cum laude) and an honourable mention. Her experimental thesis focused on the study of the effects of abemaciclib, a CDK4/6 inhibitor, on cellular metabolism and proliferation in preclinical models of Ewing sarcoma.

Her research activity is focused on the molecular characterization of epithelial-type cellular models resistant to cisplatin and pemetrexed, and on the development of new therapeutic strategies to improve treatment response in patients affected by malignant pleural mesothelioma. Her experimental work includes 2D and 3D cell cultures, functional assays, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques. She has participated in several national and international conferences dedicated to malignant pleural mesothelioma, contributing as an author of scientific abstracts.
