Associate Professor of General and Applied Hygiene (06/M1 SSD MED/42) at the University of Parma, Department of Medicine and Surgery, since February 1, 2024.

Dr. Tedesco completed his degree in Medicine and Surgery, followed by a specialization in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna. He then earned a Ph.D. in General Medical Sciences and Health Services, focusing on health services research and outcomes research.

In 2016-2017, he conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University (USA), in the Division of General Surgery and the Center for Biomedical Informatics Research. There, he worked on epidemiological projects addressing the opioid crisis and used artificial intelligence to develop predictive models based on data extracted from electronic health records (EHRs).

From 2018 to 2024, he held the position of Medical Director at the Health Management Division of the IRCCS Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute and collaborated with the General Directorate for Health and Welfare of the Emilia-Romagna Region, working in both the Department of Hospital Care and the Department of Innovation in Health and Social Services, where he continues to collaborate.

In 2022, he achieved National Scientific Qualification as an Associate Professor of General and Applied Hygiene (06/M1-SSD MED/42, now MEDS-24/B).

His research primarily focuses on evaluating the quality of healthcare, particularly in areas such as patient safety, healthcare variability, equity, and conflicts of interest in health. He is also experienced in synthesizing scientific evidence through systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Currently, he is involved in research that assesses the impact of healthcare policies and evaluates healthcare service performance in response to organizational and technological innovations.
