Eleonora Fiore is Associate Professor of Design at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma. Her research focuses on design for sustainability and the circular economy, with particular attention to food systems, packaging, food waste reduction, home appliances and connected products, as well as disassembly, repair, and end-of-life recovery processes.
She received her PhD in Management, Production and Design from Politecnico di Torino in 2018. During her doctoral studies, she was a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, where she investigated the relationship between design and the Internet of Things in the field of home appliances.
Throughout her academic career, she has contributed to national and European research projects addressing the sustainable transition of production and consumption systems, developing design methods and tools applied, among other areas, to the circular economy, Life Cycle Assessment, food design, packaging, and waste electrical and electronic equipment. Her research combines systemic design approach with design experimentation, with particular attention to the transfer of research outcomes to companies, institutions, and local communities.
She is actively involved in the national and international scientific community. She is a member of the Italian Society of Design (SID), where she co-coordinates the Design for Sustainability working group, the Systemic Design Association (SDA), and the Interdepartmental Centre for Packaging Research – CIPACK at the University of Parma. She also serves on scientific committees for conferences, initiatives, and editorial series focusing on food design, systemic design, and sustainable innovation.
