Luigi Grossi is Full Professor of Economic Statistics at the University of Parma, Department of Systems Engineering and Industrial Technologies. He held the same position at the University of Padua from 2021 to 2023. Previously, he was Associate Professor at the University of Verona from 2006 to 2021. He obtained his PhD in Statistics from the University of Bologna.

He has been Visiting Fellow at Penn State University (USA), the University of Warwick (United Kingdom), Aarhus University (Denmark), and Loughborough University (United Kingdom). In addition, he served as Associate Fellow at the Department of Economics, University of Warwick.

He has participated in numerous research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Education and the European Commission, with a particular focus on energy economics and robust statistics. He also serves as an External Expert for the European Commission, working on REMIT compliance supervision and the monitoring of manipulation practices in electricity markets.

As Guest Editor, he edited a special issue of Energy Economics entitled “Quantitative Methods for Energy Markets” and has supervised several PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in the field of statistical analysis of energy markets.

His research has been published in several international journals, including Energy Economics, Oxford Economic Papers, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Ecological Economics, European Journal of Operational Research, and Environmental and Resource Economics.
