Prof. Tiziana Meschi graduated in Medicine & Surgery at the University of Parma in 1990. She was Board-Certified in Medical Hydrology in 1994 and in Internal Medicine in 1999. Since 1990, she was resident in the Medical Semeiotics Unit of Parma University-Hospital. In 1999, she was hired as hospitalist in the same unit. In 2001, she became Researcher of Internal Medicine at the University of Parma, with clinical duties at the Internal Medicine and Critical Subacute Care Unit of Parma University-Hospital. In 2006, she obtained official teaching duties in the Medicine and Surgery Degree Course of the University of Parma, being appointed as Aggregate Professor of Internal Medicine.
In 2014, she became Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Parma, was appointed head of the Internal Medicine and Critical Subacute Care Unit of Parma-University Hospital, and head of the Geriatric-Rehabilitation Department of Parma University-Hospital. She was also appointed as Head of the Post-Graduate Specialization Course of Emergency-Urgency Medicine of the University of Parma. In 2018, she obtained the National Scientific Habilitation as Full Professor of Internal Medicine.
The scientific activity has been continuous since 1990, with the main focuses on clinical and nutritional issues of the management of multimorbid elderly patients admitted to hospital, medical management of urolithiasis, intestinal microbiome and clinical governance. She has published more than 150 papers on international peer-reviewed scientific journals (including the New England Journal of Medicine, Gut and Kidney International), with an overall impact factor >200, more than 3400 citations and an H-index of 27.
