The representing researcher of the working group, since a long time, is involved in activities concerning thermal sciences and industrial heat transfer. At first his activity was devoted to heat transfer in nuclear plants, then it has been mainly focussed on heat exchangers, steam generators, condensers, finned surfaces, thyristors and power devices in electronics, Newtonian fluids in non circular ducts, packed beds and porous media, single and two phase flow. Some researches were developed in the field of the flow patterns of two phase flow in steam generators and condensers, in order to obtain some correlations for the heat transfer coefficient. Works were carried out resorting to analytical and numerical methods, some results were performed through experimental activities.
The representing researcher is author of over 150 scientific papers, mainly published in international journals of heat transfer. He was Chairman at the International Conference "Heat Transfer in Semi-Transparent Media" held in Lion in 1992. He was member of the Organizing and Scientific Board of several national and international Conferences, and Associate Editor of the Journal "Heat and Technology". He is referee of the National Science Foundation, Washington D.C., of the English Institution of Chemical Engineers, of some Journals, such as ASME Journal of Heat Transfer and International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer. He was member of several National and European Commission (Safety in Nuclear Plants, System Response Analyser, European Accident Code). He was associate Editor of the Journal "Heat and Technology" and italian member of the European EUROTHERM Committee.
The teacher receives students and undergraduates by appointment.
