Silvia Rossetti is Associate Professor in Urban Planning at the Department of Engineering and Architecture (DIA) of the University of Parma (Italy), where she lectures “Urban and Sustainable Planning” and “City, Landscape and Regional Analyses”.

From 2019 to 2014, she has served as Assistant Professor in Urban Planning at the University of Parma. From 2013 to 2018 she has worked Research Fellow at the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Territory, Environment and Mathematics (DICATAM) of the University of Brescia, where she carried out research and teaching activities within the Urban and Mobility Planning group. Her research interests include Geographic Information Systems, analysis of urban systems, integration between urban planning and mobility, Accessibility, and Road Safety.

She graduated in Environmental Engineering in 2010 at the University of Brescia, and in 2014 she received her PhD in "Places and times of the city and territory" with the thesis "Towards People Friendly Mobility: Theoretical Framework and Research Methodologies for Accessibility and Safety". During her PhD studies, she was visiting researcher at the University of Amsterdam, and participated in several International Schools. She also holds an Advance Course diploma in Geographic Information Systems for Urban Planning from the Polytechnic of Milan.

Since 2010 she has worked on several research projects, both national and international, including the European projects SOL "Save Our Lives", ROSEE "Road Safety in South East Europe", DOCPIE "Democratic Ownership & Civic Participation in Europe" and the COST Actions C27 “Sustainable Development Policies for Minor Deprived Urban Communities”, TU1002 “Accessibility Instruments for Planning Practice in Europe” and TU1204 “People Friendly Cities in a Data Rich World”. Currently, she coordinates the National Research PRIN 'MOVING StEPS - Moving from Street Experiments to Adaptive Planned Solutions'. She has also carried out applied research activities within research agreements with public and private bodies.

She is the author of more than 90 scientific publications, both at national and international level, and she is a reviewer for major international journals. In 2013 she was awarded the "INU Letteratura Urbanistica" prize from the National Urban Planning Institute for an article in the TEMA journal.
