Curriculum Vitae Read all Born in 1967 in Modena, he is married and with three children in scholar age. In 1990 he recieved his degree in mathematics (cum laude) at the University of Modena. In 1996 he concluded his Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Firenze, under the supervision of M. Giaquinta. In 1997 he has taken a C.N.R grant at the University of Pisa. Since december 1997 he has been Assistant Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of L'Aquila, then transferred since october 1998 to the University of Parma. Since december 2006 he is Associate Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Parma, where he is presently member of the School of Engineering. His research interests concern Calculus of Variation and Geometric Measure Theory, in particular the theory of Cartesian Currents. After the early works on the area functional for vector valued maps, he has obtained semicontinuity, density and relaxation results for functionals depending on maps defined between Riemannian manifolds. He has also studied problems with non-standard growth conditions, and recently models for multi-functions with interactions. He has also studied mathematical models for the fracture mechanics of simple bodies, and also problems related to the liquid crystal energy for uniaxial and biaxial nematics. Finally, he has recently worked on functionals depending on curvatures of curves and surfaces.
