Areas of research
• Molecular diagnosis of tumours and viral infections, including BKV, HCMV, HIV, HCV, HBV, HGV ed HPV.
• Liver pathology. Viral and genetic determinants of chronic hepatitis C progression; epidemiology, immunology and immunogenetics of HCV infections; post-transplant recurrence of hepatitis C; natural history, molecular basis and tissue markers of HCC.
• Genital tract pathology. Role of HPV infections in tumours of the lower genital tract and oro-pharyngeal tract; epidemiology of HPV genotypes; natural history and genetic basis of endocervical and endometrial adenocarcinoma.
• Lung pathology. Tissue expresion of proteases in normal and pathological lung tissue; molecular basis of lung adenocarcinoma.
• Breast pathology: triple-negative and ‘basal-like’ breast carcinomasa: morphology, antigenic features and clinico-pathological correlations.

Funding
• Responsible of three research projects on funds of the Ministry of Health to the IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo; collaboration to several private and public-funded projects.
