About
Federica Veratelli is Associate Professor of Museology and Art Criticism and Restoration at the University of Parma.
Her research focuses on the history of collecting, the art and luxury markets in the early modern period, with particular attention to the relationships between Italy and the Low Countries, the circulation of artworks, artists, and cultural models, and provenance studies.
She has carried out research and teaching activities in Italy, Belgium, and France, and has participated in numerous national and international projects. Her interests also include museology, exhibition history, the enhancement of cultural heritage, and the application of digital technologies to the study of collections.

Associated Professor at the University of Parma since 2019. Graduated in Art History Studies at the University of Ferrara, she obtained a PhD in Performing and Visual Arts at the same University in 2004. She was Research Fellow at the KU Leuven University (2004-2008), postdoctoral researcher at the University of Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambrésis (2008-2011), temporary lecturer at the University Paris-Est Créteil Val-de-Marne (2011-2013), chercheur associé at the University of Valenciennes (2013-2015), Research Fellow at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice (2016) and Assistant Professor (tenure track) at the University of Parma (2016-2019). Holder of various scholarships and grants for her research on the art market connections between Flanders and Italy in Early Modern Age, she was the recipient of the 2006 Rogier van der Weyden prize for her PhD thesis, and the 2015 Henri Pirenne prize, obtained for the book "À la mode italienne, Lille, Septentrion/Archives départementales du Nord (2013). Since 2022, she has been 'Membre associé étranger' of the Académie royale d'Archéologie et historie de l'art de Belgique/Koninklijke Academie voor Archeologie en Kunstgeschiedenis van België, and, since 2024, member of the Scientific Committee for Cultural Heritage of the Emilia-Romagna region.
