About

Federica Veratelli is Associate Professor of Museology, Art Criticism and Conservation at the University of Parma.

Her research focuses on the history of collecting, the art and luxury markets in the early modern period, with particular attention to relations between Italy and the Low Countries, the circulation of artworks, artists and cultural models, and provenance research.

She has carried out research and teaching activities in Italy, Belgium and France and has participated in numerous national and international research projects. Her interests also include museology, the history of exhibitions, cultural heritage enhancement, and the application of digital technologies to the study of collections.

Associated Professor at the University of Parma since 2019. Graduated in Art History Studies at the University of Ferrara, she obtained a PhD in Performing and Visual Arts at the same University in 2004. She was Research Fellow at the KU Leuven University (2004-2008), postdoctoral researcher at the University of Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambrésis (2008-2011), temporary lecturer at the University Paris-Est Créteil Val-de-Marne (2011-2013), chercheur associé at the University of Valenciennes (2013-2015), Research Fellow at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice (2016) and Assistant Professor (tenure track) at the University of Parma (2016-2019). Holder of various scholarships and grants for her research on the art market connections between Flanders and Italy in Early Modern Age, she was the recipient of the 2006 Rogier van der Weyden prize for her PhD thesis, and the 2015 Henri Pirenne prize, obtained for the book "À la mode italienne, Lille, Septentrion/Archives départementales du Nord (2013). Since 2022, she has been 'Membre associé étranger' of the Académie royale d'Archéologie et historie de l'art de Belgique/Koninklijke Academie voor Archeologie en Kunstgeschiedenis van België, and, since 2024, member of the Scientific Committee for Cultural Heritage of the Emilia-Romagna region.

  • Memory and Performance I. La ricezione classica nelle arti performative

    L'Università di Parma, in collaborazione con UCL e Oxford University, organizza un progetto internazionale in due tappe tra Parma (10-14 ottobre 2022) e Londra (20-24 febbraio 2023) sul tema "La ricezione classica nelle arti performative", curato da Francesca Bortoletti (Unipr) e Giovanna di Martino (UCL/ APGRD-Oxford). Per la tappa parmigiana è stato organizzato un convegno convegno internazionale; un workshop teatrale, diretto dal regista Marco Martinelli (Teatro delle Albe), ospitato al Liceo Toschi di Parma e rivolto a 26 studentesse e studenti tra universitari (Unipr/UCL/Oxford) e liceali (Licei Toschi e Romagnosi); e una dimostrazione spettacolo aperta alla cittadinanza presso l'Abbazia di Valserena, CSAC-UNIPR.     Il progetto è volto ad innescare una buona pratica relativa all’ambito dell’orientamento in itinere per gli studenti delle lauree triennali nel momento cruciale dell’attivazione di un percorso di tirocinio negli ambiti lavorativi relativi ai settori del patrimonio culturale e delle industrie creative.Questo momento è importante non solo per i nostri corsi di laurea e per i nostri studenti, ma anche per i rapporti con le aziende esterne che li ospitano, le quali costituiscono il nostro interlocutore privilegiato nel perfezionamento di formazioni sempre più soddisfacenti, efficaci e preparate per “il mondo che ti aspetta”. Scopo del video tutorial sarà quello di migliorare l’orientamento degli studenti dei nostri corsi e delle aziende dei suddetti settori fornendo una guida più semplice (e in un linguaggio più vicino a quello degli studenti) a una procedura che per sua natura è, e rimane, necessariamente complessa.
