Born in Parma on 10 October 1962, he graduated in 1987 in Economics and Business (“Economia e Commercio”) at the University of Parma.
Researcher in Business Economics (“Economia Aziendale”) in 1991 at the University of Parma, he continued his academic activity as Associate Professor at the University of Macerata from 1998 to 2001, the year from which he became Full Professor in Business Economics (“Economia Aziendale”) at the University of Parma.

- Rector of the University of Parma from November 1st, 2017 to October 31st, 2023
- Coordinator of the Ministerial Commission for Universities Accounting Systems (representing the CRUI - Conference of Italian Universities Rectors) from October 11th, 2019 to June 11th, 2024
- Elected member of the CRUI Council - Conference of Italian Universities Rectors - from February 4th, 2021, and Vice President of the same Council from May 17th, 2023 to October 31st, 2023

RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Research interests are focused on corporate financial communication (both in Italian and international contexts); business administration; accounting history and corporate social responsibility, whit particular attention on social reporting. He has published widely in these fields, both monographs and articles.
He obtained with Massimo Sargiacomo and Stefania Servalli the "Thomas J. Burns Biographical Research Award 2014" of the Academy of Accounting Historians for the article published in 2012 in the Accounting History Review entitled "Fabio Besta: accounting thinker and accounting history pioneer".
Member of the Scientific Committee of various national and international journals and editorial series specialized in Accounting, Management and Business Economics, he held the role of Chief Editor of the series "Determinazione e Comunicazione del valore nelle aziende", Giappichelli, Turin (2012-2015).
