MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS
His main scientific and clinical interests are on oral function, orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders, sleep, sleep bruxism, sleep disorders periodontal and oral surgery, implant dentistry, bone and oral reconstruction and bioengineering.
He is currently involved in two major research areas encompassing translational research at all levels (in vitro, in vivo/preclinical and clinical):
• Biomaterials and reconstructive periodontal and peri-implant surgery,
• Dental sleep medicine and trigeminal neurophysiology
His research work is particularly focused on the biomaterial-cell interaction, with the aim to optimize biomaterials for oral tissue engineering. In the past years he has focused on the possibility to use aptamers to implement different kinds of biomaterials for clinical applications in bone regeneration, implantology and periodontology
