Guido Orlandini graduated in Medicine at Parma University (9-4-84; 110/110 cum laude). In 1990 he was appointed as Researcher at Parma University, School of Medicine and tenured in 1993. His research activity has dealt with hypertension pathogenesis (calcium handling, vascular reactivity, role of adrenergic systems, atrial natriuretic factors) and, more recently, with the the development of techniques for the visualization and multiple assessment of functional parameters by confocal laser microscopy. In particular new fields of application of this methodology have been characterized such as non-invasive evaluation of membrane potential, citotoxicity assays, apoptosis detection and tracking, study of ligand binding and internalization, in-situ hybridisation.
