CURRICULUM VITAE
Carlotta Compari, born in Parma (Italy), November 12, 1967, married, one son.

Curriculum
Dr. Compari graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in the academic year 1993-1994 at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Parma (Italy) under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Braibanti and Prof. Emilia Fisicaro.
After the degree she worked with Prof. Antonio Braibanti and Emilia Fisicaro at the Laboratory of Applied Physical Chemistry.
In 1995 she started PhD in Protein Chemistry at the University of Torino (Italy) (Co-ordinator Prof. Carlo Giunta, Tutor Prof. Antonio Braibanti). The topic of PhD research concerned development and application of a new statistical thermodynamic molecular model particularly suited to describe the equilibria in aqueous solutions and to explain the hydrophobic effect.
In 1998 Dr. Compari completed her PhD successfully and from 1999 to 2000 she received a post PhD grant in Physical Chemistry at the University of Parma.
In 2000 she became Researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the same University in 2000.

Faculty Position
Since December 16, 2000 she has been Researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Parma where she works in the Laboratory of Applied Physical Chemistry directed by Prof. Emilia Fisicaro.

Research Subjects
The main research interest are:
a) Thermodynamics of equilibria in solution: definition of new models, based on statistical thermodynamics and partition function to describe the receptor-ligand interaction.
b) Thermodynamics of aggregate systems: studies of aggregation processes of newly synthesised surfactants showing biological activity and/or potentially useful as non- viral vectors in gene therapy.

Since 2001 Prof. Compari was in charge of many courses in the fields of Physical Chemistry:

Health Product Applied Physical Chemistry (degree: Herbal and health product sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Parma).

Since 2005, Dr. Compari is member of teacher college of PhD in Bio-Chemistry Science at University of Torino (Italy)

Dr. Compari is author of 35 papers and of more 50 communications.

- 2008: Scientific Advisor of the fellowship “Feliciani-Ferretti”: “Study of chemico-physical properties and biological activity of new cationic surfactants as potential non viral vectors for gene delivery.

Research Grants:
Team member in 2000-2002 and 2002-2004 of the research unit in Parma of “Progetto di ricerca scientifica Finanziato dal MIUR”:
1) COFIN 2000 Perfluorocarbon emulsions and micellar systems for carrying and activation of oxygen and small molecules of biological interest.
2) COFIN 2002: Molecular and supramolecular systems of metal receptors for transport and activation of dioxygen.
