Curriculum Vitae

Chiara Vernizzi after classical studies graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano in 1991 (100/100); in 1999 he was awarded a PhD in "Design and Survey of the Building Heritage". Since 2002 he has been Researcher, since 2010 Associate Professor of Design (ICAR17) and since 31.12.2018 Full Professor of Design at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma.

The scientific research activity develops in the fields of Architectural and Urban Design and Surveying, and in particular on the methods and tools of representation of the city and on the use of computer tools for the graphic rendering of the survey of historical architectures and urban contexts , as well as on the modern and contemporary graphic representation of the architectural project.

He has over 150 publications including articles in national and international magazines and books, in proceedings of national and international conferences and monographs on the themes of Descriptive Geometry, Relief and Design of Architecture and especially on Relief and Representation of the city.

2008 April - is elected member as a representative of the group of Researchers in the Board of the Department of Civil Engineering, Environment, Territory and Architecture of the University of Parma (until 23/12/2010, date of entry into the bracket of Associate Professors)

Since May 2011 she has been elected Member of the Area Scientific Committee (Committee 108, Civil Engineering and Architecture) of the University of Parma, for the Civil Engineering and Architecture sector.

From September 2012 to November 2017 she is the contact person for incoming orientation activities relating to the Degree Course in Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Master's Degree Course in Civil Engineering and the Master's Degree Course in Environmental and Territory Engineering, active at the Department of Civil, Environmental, Land and Architecture Engineering.

From January 2013 until January 2017 she was appointed member of the GAV - Self-Assessment Group for the preparation of the Review Report and of the SUA for the following degree courses: Bachelor's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering; Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, active at the Department of Civil, Environmental, Land and Architecture Engineering.

From September 2015 to March 2017 she was appointed contact person for the School / Work Alternation activities related to the Degree Course in Civil and Environmental Engineering active at the Department of Civil, Environmental, Land and Architecture Engineering.

From March 2017 to December 2019 he is a member of the Department Quality Presidium (Department of Engineering and Architecture), representing the Architecture Unit. Join the Research subgroup.

Since November 2017 she has been the Rector's Delegate for Orientation.

SINCE XVIII, XIX and XXIII cycles he has been a member of the teaching staff of the PhD in Civil Engineering (curriculum Design and Survey of the Building Heritage) active at the University of Parma, in which he is supervisor of several theses PhD.

Since the 24th cycle he has been a member of the teaching staff of the PhD in Forms and Structures of Architecture active at the University of Parma.

Since the 19th cycle he has been a member of the teaching staff of the PhD in Civil Engineering and Architecture active at the University of Parma.

Since 2018 he has represented the Architecture Unit in the PhD in Engineering and Architecture within the Doctoral School of the Department of Engineering and Architecture.

Since 2020 he is Deputy President of the Master's Degree Course in Sustainable Architecture and Cities.

In December 2020 she was elected Coordinator of the Architecture Unit in the Department of Engineering and Architecture for the four-year period 2021-2024

2020 – Appointed Vice-Chair of the Master's Degree Course in Sustainable Architecture and Cities at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma (for the four-year period 2020-2023).

2020 – She was appointed member of the Strategic Scientific Committee of Alma Laurea, within which she coordinates the Working Group “Analysis of guidance actions and course characteristics to combat mismatch” (for the three-year period 2020-2022).

In 2021, she was re-elected as a member of the Technical Scientific Committee of the Italian Design Union (UID), the leading scientific society for the ICAR 17/DESIGN scientific disciplinary sector, to which she has belonged since 1993. Within the CTS, she is a member of the Archives Commission (for the three-year period 2021-2024).

2021: elected to the Executive Board of CLUST-ER Edilizia e Costruzioni (Construction and Building) representing CIDEA at the University of Parma for the three-year period 2021-2024.

2022 is appointed among the representatives of the University of Parma on the Board of Directors of the SMILE DIH Association (for the three-year period 2022-2024). The Association acts as a one-stop shop to support companies in their digital innovation journeys, with the aim of making them more competitive and improving their business processes, production processes, products and services through the adoption of best practice solutions and Industry 4.0 technologies.

In 2024, she was re-elected to the Executive Board of CLUST-ER Edilizia e Costruzioni (Construction and Building), representing CIDEA at the University of Parma for the three-year period 2024-2027.

2024 is appointed Vice-Chair of the Degree Course in Architecture, Regeneration and Sustainability at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma (for the four-year period 2024-2027).

2025 is once again appointed as one of the representatives of the University of Parma on the Executive Board of the SMILE DIH Association (for the three-year period 2025-2028).

The Call is part of a broader collaboration agreement between the Italian Republic and the Syrian Arab Republic for the enhancement of the City of Damascus, and provides for participation on the invitation restricted to consolidation experts, teachers in Italian university research departments. The object of the competition is the analysis of the static situation and the project to consolidate a part of the Citadel of Damascus, consisting of three towers in precarious situation. The management of informative data of different nature related to the intervention on the existing building is a complex process that involves different actors and skills. The construction of computerized, digital and integrated archives allows today, thanks to the availability of technologies and accessible research results, new forms of collaboration that represent, within the Value Chain, the drivers of innovation of products and services. This project starts from research results already validated with reference to specific categories of existing assets and to precise data management protocols for the purpose of their extension and enrichment of the related semantic database.

    Le Giornate, organizzate dal laboratorio MADLab - DIA - Università degli studi di Parma (http://www.madlab.unipr.it/) mirano al confronto, tra i vari gruppi di ricerca che se ne stanno occupando ( in una interdisciplinarietà caratterizzante) il tema della difficile modellazione e astrazione della realtà, particolarmente critico quando riguardi un panorama estremamente variegato e difficilmente schematizzabile come gli elementi e i caratteri architettonici e strutturali propri del Patrimonio culturale costruito. Lo scopo è presentare i risultati più avanzati della ricerca in questo campo, in un confronto tra approcci e competenze, oltre che di finalità, cercando di definire cosa sia il “gemello digitale” di un edificio storico, a partire dalle finalità della modellazione per la conservazione. Le Giornate prevedono la presentazione dei più avanzati risultati di ricerca, declinati nelle diverse accezioni (dalla ricerca semantica al campo strutturale, per il controllo del danno e la validazione del modello, fino alla organizzazione dei dati per la conservazione programmata dei monumenti) finalizzate alla discussione dei risultati e al confronto tra le diverse esperienze. L’iniziativa ha il patrocinio della SIRA, del CIPA e dell’UID oltre che l’accreditamento presso gli Ordini Professionali di Architetti e Ingegneri della città. Si prevede la pubblicazione delle relazioni delle giornate e degli esiti del dibattito in un volume della collana MADLab, Quasar Editore (https://edizioniquasar.it/collections/mad-lab-monitoraggio-analisi-e-diagnosi-del-costruito). Si prevede inoltre di aprire una call per un numero speciale della rivista Heritage (o IJAH, da definire) a seguito del dibattito e delle giornate.

    La gestione dei dati informativi di diversa natura correlati all’intervento sul patrimonio costruito esistente è un processo complesso che coinvolge attori e competenze diverse e spesso caratterizzato da lacune informative, scarsa accessibilità e usabilità dell’informazione, in particolare se riferita alle fasi conoscitive di rilievo e diagnostica dello stato di fatto. Obiettivo del progetto è realizzare un approccio inclusivo all’applicazione degli strumenti di Building Information Modeling, BIM, nei processi di intervento e gestione del costruito esistente al fine di: favorire la collaborazione tra tutti gli attori della catena del valore; implementare i protocolli di acquisizione, integrazione, modellazione, rappresentazione e estrazione di dati digitali integrati; sostenere la digitalizzazione della filiera a supporto delle diverse finalità del progetto d’intervento (recupero, restauro, miglioramento sismico, energetico, manutenzione predittiva).

    In occasione della celebrazione del primo ventennale dei corsi di laurea in Architettura presso l’Università di Parma, il gruppo dei docenti di Disegno e Rilievo del Dipartimento di Ingegneria e Architettura promuove una mostra volta ad esporre una selezione dei più significativi esempi di elaborati grafici realizzati, nell’ambito degli insegnamenti dell’area della Rappresentazione, dagli studenti di tutti i corsi di laurea e laurea magistrale in ambito architettonico, dal primo anno della loro istituzione ad oggi (A.A. 1999/2000 – A.A. 2019/2020). La mostra vuole così testimoniare non solo la forte connotazione della disciplina all’interno dei corsi di laurea parmensi, ma offre anche uno spaccato dell’evoluzione degli strumenti del Disegno e della loro interpretazione ed utilizzo da parte degli studenti di Architettura dell’Università di Parma.

  • Notte dei ricercatori 2017 Iniziativa1: Realtà aumentata e attività interattive verso il museo del futuro.

    Tramite applicazioni di realtà aumentata sarà possibile vedere le statue di epoca romana rinvenute nel sito archeologico di Veleia (PC) e conservate al Museo Archeologico di Parma. Gli intervenuti potranno quindi giocare con la realtà aumentata, con i contenuti interattivi prodotti e osservare in diretta la stampa 3D di alcuni reperti. Parallelamente saranno mostrate alcune riproduzioni sperimentali di reperti archeologici. Tali riproduzioni, partendo dall'analisi tecnologica del reperto stesso, consentono una migliore fruizione dei reperti archeologici e rappresentano una occasione di studio e approfondimento. Infatti consentono di avanzare ipotesi sui metodi e le tecniche di produzione antiche e di verificarle diventando parte del processo conoscitivo dei saperi tecnici antichi.     L’iniziativa proposta mira alla promozione del patrimonio storico-artistico della città di Parma, articolandosi in due momenti: una prima fase in cui i ricercatori dell’Università descriveranno alcune delle nuove tecniche di valorizzazione, mostrando le operazioni per la realizzazione di modelli virtuali e la loro riproduzione tramite stampa 3D; e una seconda fase in cui accompagneranno gli intervenuti, con l’aiuto del FAI, lungo un itinerario urbano alla scoperta di siti, monumenti e testimonianze per lo più sconosciute sulle origini romane della città e sulle ricadute ancora leggibili nel suo patrimonio architettonico e artistico del Settecento. Tale iniziativa si inserisce nel progetto “Percorsi multimediali innovativi per la valorizzazione del Museo Archeologico di Parma” promosso da Fondazione Cariparma e Università e volto alla valorizzazione dei beni archeologici del Museo tramite la generazione di nuovi contenuti multimediali.
