Tommaso Foggi was born in Parma, Italy, in 1978. He received the master’s degree in telecommunication Engineering from the University of Parma in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in Information Technology from the same University in 2008. From 2009 to 2018 he was a research
engineer of National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT) in the University of Parma research unit. From 2018 he is a Assistant Professor at University of Parma, Dept. of Engineering and Architecture.

His main research interests include electronic signal processing for optical and satellite communication systems, in particular adaptive equalization, coding and iterative decoding techniques, optical channel impairment compensation, channel estimation, simulative software implementation.

He is author of several scientific papers published on international journals, conference papers and patents, and he won the "best paper award" at the Optical Networks and Systems Symposium at the Internation Conference on Communications (ICC), in Beijing, China, May 2008.

He was/is involved in research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), the European Space Agency (ESA), and by several private companies (Marconi-Ericsson, CGS spa, Inmarsat, Huawei).
