Barbara Bigliardi graduated with honors in Management Engineering at the University of Parma. In 2008 she obtained the title of PhD in Industrial Engineering. From November 2005 to September 2014 she was researcher for the scientific-disciplinary sector (SSD) ING-IND/35 "Economic-Management Engineering" at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Parma. Since October 2014 she is associate professor for the same SSD at the Department of Industrial Engineering, now Department of Engineering and Architecture, of the University of Parma. She holds the national scientific qualification for the role of full professor for the SSD ING-IND/35 Economic-Management Engineering, obtained in August 2018.
Since January 1, 2020, she has been the President of the Course of Study in Management Engineering at the University of Parma, and since October 1, 2020, she has been the Director of the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Management Engineering at the University of San Marino.
Since 2004 she is member of AiIG, Italian Association in Management Engineering.
She is author of more than 100 publications, including 57 papers in international journals indexed on SCOPUS database, several special issue editorials and papers presented at national and/or international conferences, as well as several book chapters in international journals. She has been Editor of a book of international relevance entitled "The Space Economy: From Science to Market" (Cambridge Scholars Publishing). She boasts over 1300 citations on Scopus (H-index=21). She is member of the Editorial Board of several international scientific journals.
She is President of the National Observatory on start-ups of Confassociazioni.
