TEACHING ACTIVITY

He taught at: Politecnico di Milano (1996), Diploma Universitario in Ambiente e Risorse at the University of Firenze (1998-1999), Bachelor and Master Degree in Computer Science at the University of Torino (1999-2010), Bachelor Degree in Computer Science at the University of Parma  (2003-2009), Master in Bioinformatics at the University of Torino (2002), Master in Strategic Sciences in collaboration between  the Scuola di Applicazione in Torino and the University of Torino (2001-2009), Master Degree in Computer Science Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Parma (2009-now), Bachelor Degree in Electronics, Computer Science and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Parma (2010-now), PhD in Information Technology at the University of Parma (2012, 2019)

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

The scientific activity is mainly focused on solving global optimization problems, in which the global minimum of a function is searched for in the presence of local minima. In this context he developed theoretical studies on the complexity of these problems and heuristic and exact algorithms for their solution. Applications of the investigated methodologies include molecular conformation, packing, planning of space missions, motion planning problems. He also carried out research in the field of heuristic approaches for combinatorial optimization problems, such as the max-clique problem.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

He took part to the following research projects

MoSPRAS - Modelli di Simulazione per la Pianificazione

delle Risorse nelle Aziende Ospedaliere

MOST - Metodi per l'Ottimizzazione di Sistemi e Tecnologie

COSO  - Complex Systems Optimization

FIRB “Ottimizzazione non lineare su larga scala”
