She graduated in Physics in 1994 (110/110 cum laude) at the University of Parma discussing a thesis on the effects of high energy charge carriers in metal-insulator-semiconductor structures. She obtained the Ph.D. in Physics in 1998 and the Specialization  in Materials Science and Technology in 1999. After working as research scientist at the National Institute of Physics of Matter and the CNR from 2000 to 2006, she joined the Department of Matemathical, Physical and Computer Science of the Universiy of Parma, where she is currently Associated Professor.

She took part in numerous projects (MADESS II, MAE, PRIN); she was the local chief for a CARIPARMA project aimed at developing a control unit with spectroscopic sensor for the detection of radioactive sources and of a PRIN project on the characterization of efficiency and degradation in high brightness MQW LED prototypes with  based on nitrides.

The research activity, initially oriented to the characterization of degenerative microscopic processes in materials and devices for fast electronics, has moved in recent years to the study of new materials / structures for optoelectronics, power electronics, photovoltaics and sensors, with particular attention to study of optical properties and electrical transport in massive, nanostructured materials and multilayer structures. The knowledge of transport parameters, band structure, metal / semiconductor and insulator / semiconductor interfaces is fundamental for optimization of materials and design of efficient devices.
