- 2006: Ph.D in “Plant Biology”, University of Parma, Italy. Title of scientific thesis “Morphological and biomolecular investigation for the characterization of autochthonous Emilian genotypes of Olea europaea L.”, under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Fabbri.
- 18/12/2001: Degree in Agricultural Science, in the Faculty of Agriculture of Florence (IT), 110/110 and Dignity University Press. Title of scientific thesis: “Selection and evaluation of Olea europaea L. clones cv Leccino at different frost tolerance”, under the supervision of Prof. Piero Fiorino and Dr. Giorgio Bartolini.

- April 2002 – December 2002: Fellowship in Parma University. Title of research: “Studies on Olea europaea L. germplasm in Emilia region”.
- November 2004 – January 2005: Stage during the Ph. D. course at the "Instituto de Agricultura Sostenible, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas", Córdoba, Spain, to learn anatomical and histochemical techniques for the research “Anatomy of the olive inflorescence axis at flowering and fruiting”.

In the last ten years, Dr. Ganino has been supervising (Tutor or Co-Tutor):
- more than 20 students during their graduation thesis period;
- 3 Italian students during the three years of Ph.D;

To sum up, in the last 10 years Prof. Ganino has carried out his research activity in several fields of plant physiology, anatomy and biotechnology, with reference to specific issues concerning fruit tree species.
The main research fields are: micropropagation, flower and fruit biology, frost damage, systematic pomology, evaluation of fruit quality, varietal selection, abiotic stress; the studied species were olive, grapevine, pear, chestnut, hop, fig and cherry
The coordination and participation to several National and International projects has given to Dr. Ganino the expertise to raise and manage research funds, also in terms of human resources and laboratory equipment.
