Veronica Valenti is Associate Professor in Constitutional Law (IUS/08) and she teaches Public Law and Equal Opportunities Law at the Department of Law, Political and International Studies - University of Parma, as well as Constitutional Law at the  School of Specialisation for Legal Professions in Parma.

She is Vice-President of the Committee for equal opportunities of the University of Parma and Erasmus referent for the unified degree course in Political Science.

She takes part in various University Commissions, such as the Innovative Didactics Commission, and the Working Group for the drafting of the Gender Balance Report.

Her research fields are: the evolution of the welfare state; migration processes, intergenerational responsibility, fundamental rights, equal opportunities.

She participated in many national and international conferences such as: “Democracy and Fundamental Rights” (Salerno, 2019), with the paper: “The principle of sustainability as a new paradigm of constitutional law”; “Global Law vs National Law?” (Parma, Bologna, Berkley, 2019) with the paper: “Religious symbols, public order and the "living together". What choice of society for the future?”; Summer School about “Europe and Migration”, with two papers: “The Legal Status of the Asylum Seeker in ECHR case-law” and “Migrants and Regions” (Ventotene, 2017).

She directed several scientific-seminar initiatives such as, among the most recent: Laboratorio interdisciplinare sulla violenza di genere, novembre – dicembre 2020 (about gender violence); with Prof. Paola Torretta, “Il corpo delle donne. La condizione giuridica femminile: 1946-2016” (about the history of women’s rights), ottobre-dicembre 2016; “L’unione civile” nell’ambito della rassegna “I Mercoledì del Diritto”, Parma, 22 febbraio 2017( about civil union and same-sex marriage).

University Education and professional training:

Graduated in Law cum laude (Thesis in Constitutional Law: “Sexual Orientation and Constitutional Principles”) at the University of Parma, she won the Degree Award banned by the Emilia Romagna Region "Renè Cassin" (2005).

In  summer 2005, she attended the postgraduate Course about The International portection of Human rights  at the Institut International des Droîts de l’Homme “Renè Cassin”  Strasbourg.

In 2009, she obtained a PhD in Constitutional Law (University of Bologna), discussing a thesis entitled: "I principi costituzionali in materia previdenziale e loro dimensione intertemporale". Winner of a research grant in Constitutional Law at the University of Parma (April 2007- April 2011), in 2013 she won the public concourse for a fixed-term researcher in Constitutional Law at the University of Parma (2013- 2016 - 2017).

She is a lawyer (since 2007), enrolled  at the Parma Bar since 2013.
