For the last 10 years her research activities have centered on the development of novel materials for solvent-free extraction techniques for food safety and environmental monitoring, the development and validation of methods based on mass spectrometry techniques, the application of multivariate statistical analysis to food quality and safety and the application of experimental design techniques for analytical procedure optimization. Recently, her scientific interests have been devoted to the application of ESI-MS and MALDI-TOF-MS to structural and functional proteomics, to the development of novel materials for desorption electrospray ionization and matrix assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry with special focus on the characterization of the surfaces and to the application of SEM techniques to food safety. Her research group has also developed innovative immunosensing devices for the determination of biomarkers in cancer screening programmes and for celiac disease as well as of compunds of environmental and food interest Scientific coordinator of research projects in cooperation with industries and public organizations. Co-ordinator of research units in scientific projects financed by the Italian University and Research Ministry (MIUR) and of ISPESL (Occupational Safety Institute). PI of the european project METROFOOD-PP (H2020-INFRADEV-2018-2020) on behalf of University of Parma (1 December 2019-1 June 2022). In 2018 she received the award of the "Arnaldo Liberti" medal from the Analytical Chemistry Division together with the Environmental and Cultural Heritage Chemistry Division and the Interdivisional Group of Science of Separations of the Italian Chemical Society.
