Rinaldo Garziera

Born in Como on 1 - May - 1962.
Winner of competition at the Advanced Normal School of Pisa (Physics), 1980. Graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan 19 July 1987. PhD student at the Polytechnic of Milan (Institute of the Mechanics of Machines) since November 1989.
Researcher since June 1991at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Parma,.
Full Professor in Mechanics of Machines, since March 2001, Faculty of Engineering, University of Parma.
Since June 1991 he carried out its research activity at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Parma.
The main research areas are:
a) Robotics
b) Vibrations of mechanisms
c) Laws of movements
d) Vibrations of axially moving continua
e) Mechanics and Control of Machines.
The research activity regarding the Robotics was focused on direct and inverse Kinematics of redundant robots. In this field he is author of an original recursive equation that allows a smart formulation of the differential equations governing the inverse Kinematics of redundant robots.
In the field of mechanisms motion laws he studied the set-up of some motion laws particularly suited for machine control.
The activity regarding vibrations he studied the dynamics of axially moving systems, e.g., tapes that are unwrapped from coils.
More recently, he studied the extension of the Rayleigh-Ritz method in the determination of the natural frequencies and modes of vibration for continuous bodies with complicating effects.
Finally, he developed a work focused on the vibrations of cylindrical shells with fluid-structure interaction (still and flowing fluid).
