Michele Tomaiuolo received a M.Eng. in Computer Engineering and a PhD in Information Technologies from the University of Parma. Currently he is an assistant professor at the Department of Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma. He has given lessons on Foundations of Informatics, Object-Oriented Programming, Software Enigineering, Computer Networks, Mobile Code and Security, Databases and Web Systems. His current research activity is focused on machine learning for social media analysis, with attention to security and trust management, multi-agent systems, semantic web, rule-based systems, peer-to-peer social networks. He has worked extensively in the development of large information systems and machine learning techniques for the analysis of heterogeneous data. He has been a Workpackage leader in the @lis TechNet (ALA/2002/049-055) European project, where he coordinated the development of the technological infrastructure. He also participated in a number of other Europen projects, including Collaborator (IST-2000-30045), Comma (IST-1999-12217), Agentcities.RTD (IST-2000-28385), and the national project Anemone. Currently he is editor in chief of the “International Journal of Information Security and Privacy (IJISP)” (ISSN: 1930-1650) and local director in Parma of the “National Laboratory of Cyber Security”.
