1989 Participation in the oncology refresher courses on Colon/Rectum Tumours and Breast Tumours sponsored jointly by Italy’s Cancer Prevention Foundation (“Lega Italiana per la Lotta Contro i Tumori”) and the Cancer Commission of Italy’s Ministry of Education.

1991-92 Emergency medical service educational activity for in-patients at the University of Parma Institute of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

1993-94 Emergency medical service at the local National Health Service (NHS) Unit in Parma. Replacement General Practitioner for the official GPs practising in Parma.

1994 Participation in the base course on Colposcopy and Lower Genital Tract Diseases at the Genital Disease School of the Milan-based National Cancer Institute (“Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori”).

1996 Member of the Gynaecology Group of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) in Belgium.

1990-99 Clinical research activity in cancer gynaecology at the University of Parma Institute of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology, mainly involved in: a) the evaluation of the clinical efficacy of different chemotherapy courses in patients with first- or advanced-stage gynaecologic cancer (ovarian, endometrial and cervical carcinomas); b) the definition of biological factors of prognostic significance; and, c) the definition of the best surgical approaches to endometrial carcinoma.
