Dr. Santi received her Pharm. D. in 1987 and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in 1992, from the University of Parma (Italy), where, from 1991 to 1998, she was Assistant Professor. From 1998 to 2002 she was Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Parma (I), where she holds a position of Full Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology from 2002. From November 2008 to July 2012 she was director of undergraduate studies in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology. From July 2012 to December 2016 she was Chair of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Parma.
During her Ph.D. she worked for six months at the University of Lille (France). In 1994 she spent a sabbatical year as visiting assistant professor at the University of California of San Francisco. In 2003 she was invited professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lyon, Claude Bernard (France) .
Patrizia Santi's research activity is focused on drug delivery by the transdermal, inhalation, buccal, nasal, ocular and oral routes.
She has published 120 scientific papers, 6 book chapters, 10 patents (related to drug delivery systems) and 170 conference communications, 20 of which as invited speaker.

Main research interests:
Her research activity is on controlled dug delivery, in particular:
1.Study of the transdermal delivery of drugs and cosmetics
2.Study of transdermal and ocular iontophoresis
3.Study of the ocular delivery of drugs (including macromolecules).
4.Study of the buccal delivery of drugs.
