Personale docente

Elena Motti was born in Reggio Emilia (Italy) in 1972. She received the degree in Industrial Chemistry (cum laude) in 1997 from the University of Parma (Italy). In 2001 she obtained the Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences (Tutor: Prof. Marta Catellani).In 2000 she carried out part of her doctoral studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, in Prof. Pregosin’s group. In 2000-2001 she was appointed as post-doc at the Department of Organic and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Parma. In 2002 she became Research Associate at the Faculty of Sciences (Parma University) and in 2014 Associate Professor at the Chemistry Department (Parma University). She is a member of the Italian Chemical Society . In 2006 she was elected member in the Executive Board of the SCI- Emilia Romagna section (2006-2011). Her work is focused on the development of multistep multicomponent reactions by palladium and norbornene catalysis. She contributed significantly in particular to the development of the "Catellani Reactions", well known in the area of aryl C-H bond activation (Pure Appl. Chem., 2005, 77, 1243; Acc. Chem. Res. 2008, 41, 1512; Coord. Chem. Rev. 2010, 254, 456), in particular her pubblications are focused on aryl arylation (J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2004, 126, 78, Org. Lett., 2012, 14, 5792)and on heterocyclic compound formation by multistep reactions (J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2006, 128, 722; Org. Lett., 2006, 8, 3967) and on the study of the mechanism and the isolation of the intermediates (J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2002, 124, 4336; J. Am. Chem. Soc, 2011, 133, 8574).

Prof. Elena Motti is co-author of 43 scientific articles (Scopus) in peer-reviewed international journals (h-index = 25, December 2018) and more than 40 communications in national and international conferences.
